Jean Goes Back To the Salon!

Moat House has helped one resident ‘return to work’ with a special visit to a local hair salon.

Jean Grice, a former hairdresser and owner of multiple hair salons in Leicestershire, paid a special visit to Burbage’s Salon65 to share some of the secrets of her success and also learn some new tricks of the trade!

“This has been a wonderful experience. At the peak of my career, I had 15 hair salons and took part in many national hairdressing competitions. I also took a lot of pride in teaching and training others so today has been great to learn about new techniques and to share my own tips,” said Jean.

Jean’s visit to Salon65 was organised as part of a new scheme called ‘Who Lives in A House Like This’, a group-wide initiative run by Moat House owners, Adept Care Homes. The scheme celebrates the past lives of residents, reuniting them with a part of their history.

Dave Lock, Adept Care Homes Managing Director explained: “We believe it is important to celebrate the former lives of our residents. Many have had interesting jobs and we’ve heard so many stories involving unusual hobbies and even celebrities.

“We decided to form a programme where we specifically focus on this and create an activity or visit, to help an individual relive a time in their lives.

“It’s great to see Jean back in front of a mirror with scissors in hand! She only recently cut a team members hair, so we knew she would love her trip back to a salon.

“Evoking happy memories and listening to our residents when they share them with us, is all part of our care and helps us achieve our aim of being a superb place to live or work.”
