Bowood Court Care Home is thrilled to announce that its Head Chef, Andrew “Andy” Taylor, has been awarded the prestigious Creed Food Service Care Chef of the Year 2024 title! Competing against some of the top talent in care catering, Andy’s culinary expertise, creativity, and dedication to exceptional care dining won the judges over in the final held at Rugby College on Thursday, October 31st.
At the event, Andy showcased his signature Tuscan Chicken, a vibrant dish inspired by the warm flavours of Italy, along with an IDDSI Level 4 adaptation to meet the needs of diners requiring a texture-modified option. His winning creation combined taste, texture, and presentation, skilfully reflecting the competition’s focus on dishes that are not only flavourful but also adaptable, sustainable, and suitable for all dietary requirements.
“Competing at the Creed Food Service Care Chef of the Year final was an amazing experience,” said Andy. “This competition is so important for celebrating what we do in care catering—it’s not just about food; it’s about giving residents a memorable dining experience every day.”
The Creed Food Service Care Chef of the Year competition honours chefs working in care settings who demonstrate outstanding culinary skills. With only five finalists selected, each chef was tasked with preparing a unique dish inspired by global flavours, crafted with a care-focused approach and sustainable ingredients. Andy’s win earns him the esteemed Chef of the Year title, an engraved trophy, and a Michelin Star tasting menu experience.
Bowood Court’s residents and team are thrilled by Andy’s well-deserved win, which highlights his commitment to elevating the dining experience at the care home.
“Andy’s dedication and creativity in the kitchen bring so much joy to our residents,” said Naomi Jones, Hospitality Manager. “We couldn’t be prouder of his achievement. This award celebrates the care and passion he brings to his cooking every day.”
