For the love of fun and sustainability, residents at Bowood Court Care Home in Redditch have turned their garden into a golfer’s paradise—by creating their very own mini golf course entirely from upcycled items!
With sustainability at the heart of the home’s 2025 mission, this imaginative project has brought green thinking and good times together in perfect harmony. Led by Mark, the home’s ever-handy maintenance man and now honorary course designer, the project was driven by the ideas and creativity of the residents themselves.
From old plant pots to cardboard tubes, garden tools, coat hangers, and even a repurposed walking frame or two—every hole has a story and a sustainable twist. The result? A delightfully quirky course that’s not only eco-friendly but full of character and challenge!
“It’s been brilliant seeing everyone get stuck in,” said Mark. “The residents had the vision—I just helped bring it to life. I’ve never built a golf course before, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!”
The whole Bowood community joined the fun: residents painted signs and obstacles, the activities team hosted mini-tournaments, and families cheered on from the sidelines. Whether you’re a putting pro or just in it for the laughs, the course has become a hub of light-hearted competition and joyful togetherness.
“It’s amazing what you can do with a bit of teamwork and a pile of ‘junk’,” laughed one resident. “We’ve reused, recycled, and had a right good giggle doing it!”
The garden golf course is now a permanent feature at Bowood Court, serving up fresh air, friendly rivalry, and a big slice of sustainable inspiration.
