Cycle Relay

Harrier House Care Home is gearing up to play a central role in the Great British Care Cycle
Relay 2025, proudly hosting both the starting and finishing point of the Nottingham leg on
Saturday 14th June.

Organised by Championing Social Care, this national event brings together care teams,
residents, families, and local communities to celebrate and raise awareness of the social care
sector through a unique and spirited cycling relay. The initiative highlights the importance of
care homes at the heart of communities and promotes healthier lifestyles and stronger
connections across the UK.

The Great British Care Cycle Rally

Setting off at 9:00am and returning around 5:30pm, the cyclists will cover an inspiring 111km
route around the Nottingham area, visiting fellow care homes along the way. This year, Adept
Care Homes’ Directors and members of the wider support team will also be cycling in the
relay, proudly representing the group and showing hands-on support for the care sector.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be hosting such a meaningful event,” said Kenny Nelson,
Managing Director of Adept Care Homes. “It’s a brilliant opportunity to bring people together,
celebrate care, and show our community spirit—and to have our wider team riding alongside
us makes it all the more special.”

The day at Harrier House will kick off with a light, nutritious breakfast station, kindly sponsored
by Creed Food Services. Residents will gather with flags and big smiles to cheer on the riders
as they set off from the car park. Adding to the excitement, a group of enthusiastic children
from the neighbouring Flying High Academy will join the cyclists for an honorary lap around
the local area—officially launching the Nottingham leg in style.

Upon return, cyclists will be welcomed back with a celebratory refreshment station, cheering
crowds, and handmade banners crafted by residents. It promises to be a day filled with joy,
teamwork, and gratitude for the dedication shown across the social care community.

The relay is part of a larger five-day event leading up to Care Home Open Week 2025, with
additional stages in Edinburgh, York, Cardiff, and London. Harrier House is proud to shine a
light on the sector and looks forward to celebrating with the community on this very special
day.
