Creative Flavours Take the Crown: Kiwi House Wins Most Original Recipe!

Residents at Kiwi House Care Home have proudly taken home the award for “Most Original Recipe” in this year’s Ready Steady Cook competition – part of Adept Care Homes’ commitment to promoting joyful, active and fulfilling lifestyles through meaningful resident-led activities.

Using a selection of twelve ingredients, residents at Kiwi House teamed up with the Activities Teams to create an imaginative dish. A cheddar and mushroom tart paired with a chocolate, blueberry and poppy seed swirl – a bold and unique combination that made a lasting impression!

Resident, Joy Plumb, shared:

“It smells amazing – I can’t wait to try it!”

Our guest judges, Michelle Chambers and Luke Arnold, Adept Care Homes’ Admissions Manager and HR Advisor, were full of praise for the daring flavour mix:

“The flavours are amazing! I can really taste the lemon, blueberry, and even the cheesy mushroom pastry – it all works so well together!”

The event brought a buzz of creativity and teamwork to the home, with residents excited to get involved, whilst sharing stories and laughter along the way.

The Ready Steady Cook competition has not only showcased the great talents of our residents, but has also encouraged teamwork, connection and reminiscence. We are incredibly proud of everyone at Kiwi House for the enthusiasm, care and dedication that went into each step of the way.
