Christmas magic was truly in the air at Kiwi House Care Home in Derby as resident Gillian Thomas (92) enjoyed a heart-warming Make-a-Wish day out, joined by five of her fellow Kiwi House friends.
The festive adventure took the group to Garden King Garden Centre in Swadlincote, where the day began with a magical experience feeding the centre’s beautiful reindeer — a moment that brought smiles, excitement and plenty of Christmas cheer.

After a delicious lunch together, residents enjoyed browsing the sparkling Christmas displays and indulging in a little festive shopping.
Gillian described the reindeer as “really beautiful” and said the whole day had been “wonderful” — words that perfectly captured the joy of the occasion and warmed the hearts of everyone involved.
Jeanette Heath, Home Manager at Kiwi House said:
“Creating special moments like this is what Christmas is all about. Seeing Gillian and her friends so happy, relaxed and full of festive joy was incredibly moving.”
The trip reflects Kiwi House’s commitment to making residents’ wishes come true and creating meaningful, memory-making experiences throughout the festive season.
As Christmas approaches, the team at Kiwi House looks forward to creating many more magical moments filled with kindness, togetherness and joy.
