Bowood Court & Mews has received a ‘good’ rating after it was inspected in May.
Inspectors visited Bowood Court & Mews in an unannounced visit and spent time speaking with staff, residents and relatives.
The report highlighted the friendly, positive atmosphere at the home, rating the home ‘good’ in all assessment areas which are: Caring, Safe, Effective, Responsive and Well-led.
The inspector said: “People liked the staff caring for them and enjoyed their company. People explained to staff how they needed help and staff supported accordingly. Relatives were kept informed about their family member’s health and were involved in making decisions about their care, where appropriate. People were treated with dignity and respected and staff understood how to enable people to maintain their independence.
“People’s care needs were assessed and care provided in response to their needs. As people’s needs changed, care was adjusted to ensure people had access to the support they needed. People had access to a variety of activities that they enjoyed taking part in. Friends and relatives were encouraged to visit whenever they chose to. People and their families were offered opportunities to feedback what they thought about the service they received at the home.”
New Home Manager, Breda Goulding, who took over in May, said: “We are so pleased to have achieved this consistently positive feedback from our industry inspectors.
“It is essential that we continually review the service we provide. We want to care for our residents in the best possible way, and every member of the team is delighted that both inspectors and the relatives of our residents are so happy with the service at Bowood Court & Mews.
“We will now work to ensure these high standards are maintained and that we continue to provide a superb place to live and work for our residents and team.”
Providing residential and dementia care, Bowood Court & Mews is currently undergoing a £1million refurbishment which will see the addition of new facilities including a pub and cinema.
