Bowood Court Resident June Honoured by the Royal British Legion

Redditch, UK – The team and residents at Bowood Court Care Home are beaming with pride as 93-year-old June Cooke has once again been celebrated for her remarkable dedication to the Royal British Legion (RBL).

June, who touched hearts last year with her mission to knit 90 poppies for Remembrance Day, has now received a special certificate of thanks from the RBL. This heartfelt recognition comes after June helped the organisation raise an incredible £52,000 in Redditch over the past year.

Representatives from the RBL visited Bowood Court to personally present June with her certificate, praising her commitment and kindness. The atmosphere was filled with pride and emotion as residents, staff, and fellow veterans gathered to celebrate June’s outstanding contribution.

“I never imagined my knitting would make such a difference,” June said. “It’s an honour to support the Poppy Appeal, and I’m so proud to help our veterans. Receiving this certificate means the world to me.”

The RBL praised June as a true role model, noting that her dedication has inspired many others in the community to get involved and support fundraising efforts.

Home Manager, Pauline Vernon added:

“June is a shining example of how one person’s passion can have a huge impact. Her poppies have brought people together, raised vital funds, and shown our residents that they can continue to achieve amazing things.”

At Bowood Court, June’s recognition has become a source of joy for all, highlighting the importance of purpose, community, and giving back at every stage of life.
