Bowood Court Care Home in Redditch is celebrating a sweet victory once again, as they have been crowned Master of the Mince Pie Champions for the second year in a row in Adept Care Homes’ much-loved annual competition.
This festive culinary tradition sees residents from all seven Adept care homes come together to create their ultimate mince pies. The process begins with residents reminiscing about their favourite recipes and debating what makes the perfect mince pie. Guided by their skilled chef teams, each home crafts their signature version, which is then presented to a panel of judges for a blind taste test.
The mince pies are judged on key criteria: pastry, filling, taste, and presentation. Bowood Court’s creation once again stood out from the rest, cementing their reputation as mince pie maestros and bringing home the coveted title for another year.
Home Manager at Bowood Court, Pauline Vernon, shared her pride in the team’s achievement:
“Winning for the second year in a row is such a proud moment for all of us at Bowood Court. Our residents have so much fun brainstorming ideas and baking together, and their hard work has truly paid off. We’ll be keeping the festive spirit alive by baking even more mince pies in our Baking Club for everyone to enjoy this holiday season.”
The Master of the Mince Pie Competition has become a treasured highlight in the Adept Care Homes calendar, fostering creativity, collaboration, and holiday cheer. It offers residents the chance to showcase their culinary skills while connecting with one another over shared memories and festive traditions.
Congratulations to Bowood Court Care Home for their well-deserved win and for reminding us all of the simple joys that bring people together during the holiday season.
