The Knowles resident, Peter Wyre (81) received a warm welcome from fans at Coventry City Football Club where he was once a player!
“I was really quite overwhelmed by the occasion. To be remembered after all these years, signing autographs and shaking hands with fans, it was something special. Thank you to The Knowles and Julie in particular, who encouraged me to get my suit on and go enjoy the day,” said former Coventry City FC striker Peter Wyre (1956-1958).
Peter was escorted to the event at the ground which celebrates former players, by care assistant Julie who simply didn’t want him to miss out.
“We’re all so pleased Peter decided to go along in the end. He needed a little persuading but he was over the moon with the reception he got. We are always keen to help our residents reminisce on fond memories or passages from their life history and taking Peter to this event was the perfect opportunity to help him remember his days playing at his beloved Coventry FC. It was a wonderful event and we’re all exceptionally proud of Peter,” added Bev Jones, Manager at The Knowles Care Home.
