There were celebrations all around for Moat House Care Home resident June Cole, who proudly took home the Pat Armstrong Allotment Award at a special awards evening held at the Millennium Hall in Burbage.

June attended the event with team from Moat House Care Home, where the atmosphere was full of excitement as local gardening enthusiasts gathered to celebrate all things allotment. The evening became even more special when June was announced as one of the winners for her imaginative poster design inspired by life on the allotment.
June’s colourful and creative artwork captured the spirit of allotment life — from the joy of growing fresh produce to the strong sense of community shared among gardeners. Judges were so impressed by her design that it has now been turned into an official plaque, which will be proudly displayed at the Allotment of the Year site. The award recognises both June’s creativity and her love of gardening, a hobby that has brought her great joy over the years.
Zoe from Moat House Care Home, who attended the ceremony with June, said: “We had a lovely evening at the awards night at Millennium Hall in Burbage. We were so proud to see June recognised for her wonderful poster design — it was a fantastic moment.” June’s win brought plenty of smiles, applause and pride from everyone at the home, with staff and residents thrilled to celebrate her success.
The evening proved that a passion for gardening can blossom into something truly special — and June’s award-winning design will now continue to inspire allotment growers for years to come. Everyone at Moat House Care Home congratulates June on her fantastic achievement and looks forward to seeing her creativity continue to flourish.
