Residents at Harrier House Care Home in Hucknall triumph at this year’s Adept Care Homes Christmas Choir Competition, earning the prestigious title of Best Vocal Choir. The annual event, held at the beautiful St. Catherine’s Church in Burbage, is a much-loved tradition that celebrates the spirit of the season through music, camaraderie, and community.
The Harrier House choir dazzled the audience with their extraordinary vocal performance, showcasing flawless harmonies and heartfelt emotion. Their chosen piece was not only technically impressive but also deeply moving, leaving judges and attendees alike in awe of their talent. The event brought together choirs from all seven Adept Care Homes, each performing a song they had spent months rehearsing.
“It was a truly magical day,” said Toni Morell, Activities Lead at Harrier House. “Our residents poured their hearts into this performance, and their dedication has paid off with this well-deserved recognition. Their voices shone so brightly, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.”
The competition concluded with a group performance featuring all choirs joining together to sing a festive classic, filling the church with holiday cheer. After the performances, participants enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, followed by mince pies and mulled wine crafted by residents as part of their baking club.
Father Andrew and members of the St. Catherine’s Church choir served as judges for the event, praising Harrier House for their exceptional vocal quality and musicality. “Harrier House stood out for their polished harmonies and the emotion they brought to their performance,” said Father Andrew.
The win has been a source of pride and joy for the Harrier House community, reinforcing the importance of music and shared experiences in enriching residents’ lives. Plans are already underway for next year’s competition, with residents eager to continue their tradition of musical excellence.
