Anne Hall and her fellow residents at Kiwi House Care Home correctly guessed the identity of the vegetable, fruit, or plant growing in the company-wide ‘Magic Seed’ gardening competition as the ‘Artichoke’.
All eight Midlands-based, Adept Care Homes went head-to-head as residents are tasked with the planting, nurturing, and growing their mystery seed for one of this summer’s much-loved gardening competitions. Residents are given only one chance to guess what they are growing!
“The Artichoke is quite easy to identify, it has some very distinctive features. I’m so pleased the resident gardening club has been launched here again, as I love getting out in the garden and was thrilled to win the tallest sunflower competition last year and even more so to win the Magic Seed Competition this year,” said Anne, Kiwi House.
“It’s lovely to see so many residents getting involved. Anne is full of life and so enthusiastic to be a part of the activities program, as are so many of the residents and gardening is defiantly a firm favorite. The residents benefit so much from being outside, they enjoy being hands-on.” Linda Sturdy, Home Manager.
Adept Care Homes is inviting residents of all gardening experiences and abilities to join the Gardening Club which not only sees residents receiving monthly expert gardening tips and advice from their groundskeeper but offers residents the chance to win a contribution to their resident’s fund by joining in the annual gardening competitions, such as the ‘Tallest Sunflower’, the ‘Hanging Basket Competition’ and of course, the ‘Magic Seed.’ The winnings go straight back into our resident social fund which contributes to some of the regular entertainment and events.
