Kiwi House Care Home in Alvaston, part of the Adept Care Homes group, recently held a successful pre-loved clothes sale, bringing residents, families, team members, and the local community together for a day of sustainable shopping and social connection.

Thanks to generous clothing donations, residents had the chance to browse and select items they needed and loved — all for free! These new pieces made the perfect additions to their wardrobes while supporting environmentally friendly, sustainable practices. Residents were actively involved in sorting, displaying, and helping visitors, creating a sense of purpose and enjoyment throughout the event.
“I love picking out clothes I need and want, knowing they’re being reused and not wasted.” said one resident.
The initiative builds on Adept Care Homes’ recognition at last year’s Care Home Awards, where the group was awarded Best for Sustainability Initiative, highlighting its ongoing commitment to eco-friendly practices across all homes.
Jeanette Heath, Home Manager at Kiwi House said: “Our residents had such a great time exploring the donations and picking out items they needed and loved. It’s a wonderful way to encourage sustainability and shared enjoyment.”
The pre-loved clothes sale reflects Adept Care Homes’ commitment to sustainability, community involvement, and enriching experiences for residents.
