A lifelong passion for football was brought to life for one resident at Kiwi House Care Home, Derby, as her Make A Wish dream of visiting Pride Park Stadium became a reality.

Margaret, a devoted supporter of Derby County F.C. for more than 40 years, enjoyed a truly unforgettable day at the club she has loved for decades. Having previously held a season ticket and even worked at the stadium, Margaret’s connection to the Rams runs deep — and she still never misses a match on television.
From the moment she arrived at Pride Park, it was clear just how much the club means to her. In a touching moment, Margaret was even recognised by members of the security team, adding an extra layer of warmth and familiarity to the visit.
During the tour, Margaret had the opportunity to explore behind the scenes, discovering parts of the stadium she had never seen before — including the players’ changing rooms. One of the most exciting highlights of the day was walking down the players’ tunnel, followed by the unforgettable experience of stepping out onto the pitch itself.
The visit brought back a flood of happy memories and created new ones to treasure, making it a truly special day for Margaret and her family.
Jeanette Heath, Home Manager for Kiwi House Care Home said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to help make Margaret’s wish come true. Seeing her reconnect with something that has meant so much to her over the years was incredibly moving. Days like this are what our Make A Wish programme is all about.”
The experience was a powerful reminder of the importance of celebrating personal passions and creating meaningful moments for residents.
Everyone at Kiwi House Care Home is delighted to have played a part in such a memorable occasion — proving that sometimes, dreams really do come true on home ground.
