Residents at Moat House Care Home gathered in the sunshine to witness the handover of their generous donation to local charity, Edgar’s gift. The cheque was presented to Chair of Edgar’s gift, David Clarke, who was joined by his partner Molly, for the special occasion.
Edgar’s gift is a charity set up in 2010 in memory of Ben Edkins (nickname Edgar), who passed away following a yearlong fight with cancer. The charity provides gifts and unique experiences for young adults aged 18-30 suffering from cancer, such as use of the charities static caravan on the east coast of Lincolnshire which they use to offer free holidays to cancer patients and their families/friends.
“As a small family run charity, donations like the incredibly generous £1,000 from Moat House make a huge difference to us. Everyone involved with the charity works on a voluntary basis so every penny goes directly towards helping young adults suffering with cancer. A big thank you from everyone at Edgar’s Gift to all at Moat House for their fantastic support.” said David Clarke from Edgar’s Gift.
Dave Lock, Managing Director at Adept Care Homes added, “After reading about this charity in the Hinckley Times and finding out about all the incredible work they do I felt we were able to help. I hope this donation from Moat House will help make wishes come true.”
“It was a pleasure to be able to celebrate such a special moment, I really enjoyed it.” Added Brenda, a resident at Moat House.
After the cheque handover residents continued with the occasion enjoying the sunshine with tea, cakes, and live entertainment.
