The activities team at Bowood Court & Mews Care Home in Redditch are the newest members to qualify as Romila Wellbeing instructors.
Romila Wellbeing is a purposely designed exercise and dance program for care homes. According to the Department of Health, on average only 8% of adults over the age of 75 get the recommended dose of daily exercise needed. The Romila sessions are renowned for boosting mobility, co-ordination, balance, flexibility, stamina, mental wellbeing, and enjoyment amongst care home residents with a limited range of movement.
“ I love my weekly exercise class so much I have started doing it on my own too and since I moved in to this lovely home I have seen such an improvement in what I can do, I can even use the stairs now. It’s also a really good way of getting together and enjoying ourselves, we have quite a group going now” said Margo, a resident at the care home.
“It’s great to see so many of the residents enjoying their exercise and looking forward to our sessions from which they seem to be gaining some real benefits” said Jordon, the activity team leader.
