Maurice Crombie (76) who resides at Bowood Court & Mews Care Home in Redditch, has his Christmas Wish come true as part of the Adept Care Homes’ ‘Make A Wish’ program.
Over 500 residents are encouraged to make a wish, no matter how big or small, the wishes are put on the home’s magic wishing tree and every month, one resident is picked to have their wish come true.
Maurice’s wish was to be able to surprise his fellow residents, families, friends and the care team by making a special guest appearance as the man himself, Santa Clause at the Homes Christmas Fair.
The Bowood Court & Mews Care Home team set to work to make his wish come true. With the help of the maintenance team, Maurice was able to fashion his motorised wheelchair to look like Santa’s Sleigh complete with his elf helper and Rudolf, leading the way.
On Saturday 10th December, Bowood Court and Mews hosted its very own Christmas Market supported by local businesses who set up stalls and games in the grounds, complete with Santa’s Grotto. Residents, their families, and the team were able to enjoy some last-minute Christmas gift shopping, as well as refreshments made by our catering team.
“Maurice wanted to surprise everyone, so he asked me to keep it a secret and help him with decorating his wheelchair and finding a Santa suit. It was all worth it to see the look on everyone’s faces, and I think it certainly made his Christmas,” said Mark, lead maintenance at Bowood Court & Mews.
“I want to deliver the presents on Christmas morning too, to all the residents” said Maurice who is set for a second surprise appearance on the big day.
