99 year old Harriet Squires is rolling up her sleeves with fellow residents to take part in a gardening competition where she hopes to win up to £200 for the care home where she lives.
The competition is being run by Adept Care Homes for residents at its 7 midlands-based care homes.
“I’m thrilled the resident gardening club has been launched here again as I’ve always loved getting out in the garden and was thrilled to win the tallest sunflower competition last year. The competition whilst a bit of fun, would be great to win again, as the winnings go straight back into our resident social fund which contributes to some of our lovely trips out and entertainers!” explained Harriet, a Douglas Court Care Home, Derby, resident.
Adept Care Homes is inviting residents of all gardening experience and ability to join the Gardening Club which not only sees residents receiving monthly expert gardening tips and advice from their groundskeeper, but is this year offering residents the chance to win up to £200 in a Tallest Sunflower competition and a ‘magic seed’ competition where residents are given a seed to nurture and one chance to guess what they are growing!
