Leila Gets A Visit From A Fairy Godmother Thanks to Chetwynd House’s ‘Make A Wish’ Program

Leila Selvadurai (84) at Chetwynd House Care Home in Chilwell has had her dream come true as part of the Adept Care Homes, ‘Make A Wish program.

Over 500 residents are encouraged to make a wish, no matter how big or small, and put it in the home’s magic wishing well every month, one resident is picked to have their wish come true.

Leila’s wish was “Make Me Beautiful” so Chetwynd House’s fairy godmothers set to work and organised a day of luxurious pampering followed by a full make-over by local beauticians, Beauty by Nature and hair by LSC Hair (Nottingham).

“Wow, look at me, I am beautiful. Thank you so much” said Leila cheerfully.

As a surprise the team also organised for a professional photographer, Gary Barber to direct a stunning photoshoot for Leila and her husband Anton (92), who also lives with her at Chetwynd House, as a special memento for her and her loved ones to keep.

“We wanted to give our residents an opportunity to have something or to do something they thought they’d never get a chance to do again. It could be anything from seeing their favourite show in the West End, to visiting their place of birth, or a long-lost relative. It’s also a great reminiscence activity, particularly for our residents living with dementia” said Kate Gilvear, Home Manager at Chetwynd House.

“Mum looks fantastic, so beautiful and just like a movie star. Thank you for doing this for her” said Leila’s Daughter
