30 Years of Friendship Rekindled At Chetwynd House Care Home

Two neighbours who shared a fence and a close friendship for over 30 years have been reunited at Chetwynd House Care Home in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire.

Bob Peatman (95) joined the other residents at Chetwynd House in April this year and it wasn’t long until he ‘bumped’ into a very familiar face, Ann White (90) who has resided at the home for just over a year.

Bob and Anne not only shared a fence as next-door neighbours for over 30 years but a long and close friendship, which Ann refers to as family, “watching each other’s children grow up, playing in the garden, borrowing a cup of sugar or power tools on some occasions” she chuckled.

Since being reunited, Bob and Anne have reminisced about their lives and the happy time shared together. Anne has also helped Bob to settle into his new life at Chetwynd House, showing him the on-site pub, The Barracks Tavern where they sometimes enjoy Sunday Lunch or one of the many food clubs, such has Fish and Chip ‘Fryday’ or Steak Club. They have also enjoyed watching some much-loved classic motion pictures in the cinema.

They also join in with many of the activities the home has on offer from their dedicated activities and wellbeing team.

“It’s so lovely seeing a friendly face and being able to re-kindle our friendship instantly. Anne is a great friend of mine, and I am looking forward to making many more memories with her and my new fellow ‘neighbours’ here at Chetwynd House,” said Bob.
