Residents at The Old Vicarage Care Home have proudly taken home the award for “Best for Nutritional Value” in this year’s Ready Steady Cook competition – part of Adept Care Homes’ commitment to promoting joyful, active and fulfilling lifestyles through meaningful resident-led activities.

Using a selection of twelve ingredients, The Old Vicarage’s residents worked alongside the Activities Team to bake a delicious batch of Raspberry, lemon and white chocolate chip muffins with poppy seeds. The attention to detail and commitment from the residents certainly impressed the judges.
One resident, Angela Saxelby, shared:
“We’ve had such a lovely morning – it reminds me of when I used to bake!”
The judging panel, that included Neil Blackwood, Adept Care Homes’ HR Manager, praised this bake for its flavour and nutritional balance.
“These are great – you can really taste the flavour!”
The event brought a buzz of creativity and teamwork to the home, with residents excited to get involved, whilst sharing stories and laughter along the way.
The Ready Steady Cook competition has not only showcased the great talents of our residents, but has also encouraged teamwork, connection and reminiscence. We are incredibly proud of everyone at The Old Vicarage for the enthusiasm, care and dedication that went into each step of the way.
