Sarah Baker (88), a former Care Manager the Hanover Housing Association, recently singled out Local Care Home, Bowood Court and Mews as ‘Best of the Bunch’.
Bowood Court and Mews welcomed Sarah in March 2021. “We have such a laugh here and I love the company. It’s been wonderful and I have met so many lovely people. Being a Care Manager for over 40 years, you get to know what to look for in a care home. I have been here for nearly 2 months now and I cannot complain, it’s the best of the bunch.”
Sarah started as a Welfare Case worker in the Royal Navy before joining the Hanover Housing Association as a Care Manager, living in both England, Wales and Singapore with her husband, Gerald. They lived in Yorkshire and then Cheltenham for a time, where they raised their children, and she also spent many years as part of the Parent Teacher association (PTA).
“Since moving in, Sarah has become a much-loved and valued member of the home to both the residents and the team. We love to sit and talk about her past life, sometimes we ask her for her opinion about decisions in managing the home because of her lifelong experience and residents always have a say in how their home is run. We are committed to ensuring our residents still feel they are valued members of their local community and have forged many local links and partnerships over the past years to help achieve this” said Kelly Bates, Home Manager.
“The thing I loved most about my job was the people I cared for and now I love the people who are caring for me. I’m looking forward to all the summer fun we have planned and meeting and welcoming other new residents. After all my years in Care I can really say that Bowood Court & Mews really is a superb place to live” concluded Sarah
