Moat House care home in Burbage, part of family run, Adept Care Homes based in Sapcote, has been nominated as a finalist for the Laing Buisson Awards 2016.
This is one of the most highly regarded accolades available in the UK health and care sectors and celebrates the good work, innovative thinking and excellence which is driving this sector.
The New Road care home is one of five finalists in the Residential Care Provider (smaller organisation) category for their achievements in social activities and entertainment. The home recently celebrated winning the Twilight Games, where care homes across the county competed across a set of specially adapted sports such as table volleyball, boules and table tennis.
Home Manager, Nicky Hall, said “It is great to be recognised for our events and activities. We work very hard to create a social programme that is fun and engaging and suited to all interests. The Residents’ Social Committee plays a key role in the types of activities we do and they even raise their own money through raffles and events so that they can organise extra special trips.”
The social programme for the Burbage care home is carefully designed to ensure everyone can take part and residents can try out new activities or participate in their favourite past-times.
Our new reminiscence magazine, The Daily Sparkle forms a basis for our activities. It contains sing-alongs, creative activities, quizzes, ideas for clubs and is all specially designed for use in a care home.
Dave Godrich, Activities Manager, said “The Daily Sparkle is a focal point for residents to engage with family members and each other. The home team use the content to inspire activities such as puzzles, cooking, arts and crafts to name but a few.”
Winners of the Laing Buisson awards will be announced on 29th November at an awards ceremony in London.
