Chetwynd House, Chilwell, secured the award for Best Traditional Choir at the annual Christmas Choir Competition, held at St. Catherine’s Church in Burbage.
Their rendition of a classic Christmas carol showcased the timeless beauty of traditional festive music. Judges praised the choir’s dedication and harmonious performance, which transported the audience to a heartwarming holiday scene.
This cherished event brings together resident choirs from all Midlands-based Adept Care Homes to celebrate the festive season through song, camaraderie, and community spirit. Each choir performed a song they had been rehearsing for months, followed by a magical group performance featuring all choirs singing together in harmony.
Chetwynd House’s captivating performance earned them the top accolade, with judges praising their unity, vocal quality, and festive spirit. After the performances, residents enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, along with mince pies and mulled wine lovingly prepared by residents in their baking club.
Home Manager Carla Kirkham said: “Our residents poured their hearts into their performance, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement. Winning Best Traditional Choir is a wonderful reflection of their dedication and talent.”
