Chilwell, Nottingham, UK – For four residents of Chetwynd House Care Home, a trip down memory lane became reality this week as their special wish to revisit Ingoldmells was granted.
Pauline Peet (89), Phyllis Truman (83), Anne White (92), and Dorothy “Dody” Jackson (92) all shared the same heartfelt wish – to return to the seaside town where they had enjoyed happy memories in years gone by. Surrounded by team, friends, and plenty of sunshine, that wish came true.
The day was everything they had hoped for – from feeling the sand between their fingers and soaking up the sea air, to enjoying a spot of shopping along the front and tucking into traditional fish and chips by the beach.

Making the trip extra special was the support of Beach Ability Lincolnshire Beach Wheelchairs, whose kindness and equipment ensured everyone could fully enjoy the experience.
“It was wonderful – just like old times,” said Pauline. “The sea, the sand, the fish and chips – it brought back so many happy memories.”
The trip is part of Chetwynd House’s commitment to making residents’ wishes come true, no matter how big or small, giving them the chance to relive precious moments and create new ones.
“Seeing the joy on Pauline, Phyllis, Anne and Dody’s faces was truly priceless,” said said Danielle Clarke, Activities Lead. “These kinds of experiences mean so much – they give our residents a sense of independence, belonging, and pure happiness.”
The group returned home with smiles, souvenirs, and sun-kissed memories – proof that treasured wishes can still come true at any age.
