Douglas Court, Derby, delighted audiences and judges alike with their imaginative performance, earning the title of Best Creative Choir at this year’s Christmas Choir Competition.
The event, held at St. Catherine’s Church in Burbage, saw resident choirs from all Adept Care Homes come together to celebrate the season. Douglas Court’s performance was lauded for its originality, with creative elements that brought extra magic to the competition.
This cherished event brings together resident choirs from all Midlands-based Adept Care Homes to celebrate the festive season through song, camaraderie, and community spirit. Each choir performed a song they had been rehearsing for months, followed by a magical group performance featuring all choirs singing together in harmony.
Douglas Court’s captivating performance earned them the top accolade, with judges praising their unity, vocal quality, and festive spirit. After the performances, residents enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, along with mince pies and mulled wine lovingly prepared by residents in their baking club.
Graham, a resident said: “Our performance was all about fun and creativity, and it’s amazing to see that recognized. We had the best time preparing for this competition!”
