Hazel Welcomes British Legion to Hinckley

Moat House resident Hazel Wood, 90, officially welcomed the new branch of the British Legion to Hinckley.

A formal ceremony took place at St Catherine’s Church in Burbage with celebrations afterwards at Moat House which has funded the new British Legion branch.

The local mayor and the Queen’s representative for Leicestershire and a number of ex-servicemen and women were all welcomed by Hazel Woods who has a very personal connection to the British Legion.

“My father was the chairman of the nearby Syston British Legion throughout my childhood. So it was a real honour to be part of the official ceremony. I have so many fond memories and I’ve enjoyed sharing them with everyone. Supporting the British Legion is important for us here as we have quite of lot of exservicemen and women and it will be a good thing for us all to be part of thanks to Moat House,”
