Mane Event: Residents Enjoy a Pony-Perfect Afternoon Tea: A Wish Come True at Douglas Court Care Home

Residents at Douglas Court Care Home in Derby enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon as they sipped tea and indulged in cake—all in the company of some very special four-legged guests!
This heartwarming event was part of Douglas Court’s Make a Wish program, which grants residents the opportunity to experience something they’ve always wanted to do, relive cherished memories, or try something completely new. This time, the wish belonged to Barbara, who had previously fallen in love with a visiting pony and longed to spend more time with them.
To make her dream a reality, the care home arranged a special afternoon tea with the ponies, where Barbara, joined by her friends Joyce and Pat, not only enjoyed delicious treats but also had the chance to help groom and feed the ponies. The event was filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of cuddles with their equine companions.
Barbara was thrilled, saying, “What a perfect day!”
At Douglas Court Care Home, the Make a Wish program is an ongoing initiative, ensuring residents get the chance to experience magical moments that bring happiness, comfort, and excitement. From lifelong passions to once-in-a-lifetime experiences, the home is dedicated to making as many wishes come true as possible throughout the year.
