Leap of Faith: Steph Takes the Plunge (Literally) for Residents’ Dreams!

Old Vicarage Care Home Team Member Tackles 150ft Bungee Jump in the Dark to Raise Funds for Residents’ Wishes

On October 5th, Steph, a member of the Activity and Wellbeing team of The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield took a leap of faith—150 feet into the air and into the darkness—to raise funds for the residents’ social fund, all in the name of enhancing their wellbeing program.

With nerves of steel (and maybe a little help from gravity), Steph bravely volunteered for a bungee jump in the dark at The Abyss at Magna, leaving onlookers, including The Old Vicarage residents, in awe as they cheered her on. Her daring plunge was no ordinary jump—it was part of a special fundraising effort to create even more magical moments for the care home’s residents.

The Old Vicarage Care Home is known for making residents’ wishes come true, from co-piloting helicopters to nostalgic trips to Blackpool, and even restoring beloved family keepsakes. The money raised from Steph’s bungee jump will help fuel even more dream-fulfilling activities for the residents, adding to the already rich and heartwarming wellbeing program.

“We’re so proud of Steph for taking on such a thrilling challenge for a cause that means the world to our residents,” said Jordele Folkes, Home Manager at The Old Vicarage. “The bravery she showed is matched only by her dedication to helping our residents live life to the fullest.”

Residents, many of whom came along to support Steph in person, couldn’t have been prouder. There were smiles, cheers, and perhaps a few “I wouldn’t do that!” comments as they watched her take the plunge. The event not only raised money which was matched pound for pound by Adept Care Homes Executive Chairman but also brought the entire community together in support of something truly special: making wishes and dreams a reality for the residents.
