Local care home welcomes new residents

The family-run home in the heart of Clay Cross has been welcoming new residents as the home sees a glimmer of normality following the global pandemic. Meet Beryl, one of the new residents at Old Vicarage.

“I moved to Old Vicarage as I was finding it increasingly difficult to manage at home but since moving, I have been so happy and had the best time.” explained Beryl.

Beryl loves dancing. She used to dance a lot and loved to watch all kinds of live dancing, from ballet to ballroom and contemporary.

Activities lead at Old Vicarage care home said “Beryl always tells us stories about how she loves to sing and dance but hasn’t been able to do it for years. It is important to us that give her the opportunity to do all the things she loves once again. We include regular singing and dancing activities in our social programme, and it doesn’t take much encouragement for Beryl to get involved!”

“I am so happy here at Old Vicarage, I get treated so well and I get to do all the things I love once again like singing and dancing. When I first moved in, I was worried I would miss my family too much, but I get to see them all the time.” Beryl added.

Since moving in, Beryl has been able to see her family through the family visiting scheme. Old Vicarage, part of Adept Care Homes, pioneered the family visiting scheme. The garden visiting was designed alongside government guidance to see residents safely reunited with their family members once again.

“It’s lovely to see so many new faces here at Old Vicarage. I am so happy that Beryl has settled in well, she is such a lively character, always full of life and so enthusiastic to be a part of the activities program.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents, visitors, and staff, remains our highest priority. And whilst we are accepting new residents, we remain vigilant.” Added Maria Hallam, Home Manager at Old Vicarage.
