Magical Christmas Wishes Do Come True at The Old Vicarage with Christmas Visit

The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross has been granting residents’ wishes all year long, soaring to new heights with helicopter rides and childhood seaside adventures. With the heartwarming success of its Make A Wish program, two residents, Ann and Janice, saw their festive dreams come to life with an enchanting visit to the famous Chatsworth House at Christmas.

For Ann and Janice, the yearly tradition of experiencing the Christmas wonder at Chatsworth House holds a special place in their hearts. Thanks to The Old Vicarage’s ‘Make A Wish’ initiative, where over 500 residents are encouraged to make a wish, no matter how big or small. The wishes are then put it in the home’s magic wishing well and every month, at least one resident is picked to have their wish come true. The Christmas Elves (The Old Vicarage Activities and Wellbeing Team) set to work on granting Ann and Janice Christmas wishes. They embarked on a magical journey through 24 transformed rooms, each brimming with the sights, sounds, and scents of the season.

The duo wandered under archways adorned with candy canes, handmade Christmas stockings, and mistletoe, immersing themselves in a winter wonderland. Father Christmas’ workshop was a highlight, offering an enchanting glimpse into the bustling preparations for the upcoming Christmas Eve deliveries. They then ventured outside, where the interactive light and sound trail past the Cascade, through the Rock Garden and Maze, concluded in a spectacular animated light show that turned the house into a giant advent calendar.

Wrapped in the festive spirit, Ann and Janice savoured every moment, exploring a glittering Christmas tree brooch forest and relishing the festive food and drinks. The transformative experience not only sparked the magic of the season but also created cherished memories for the residents, rekindling the joy of a beloved tradition.

“Chatsworth House at Christmas is really special. What a lovely day, It’s a memory I’ll treasure.” – Janice (79), Resident at The Old Vicarage.
