Residents from The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross were filled with festive cheer after taking part in the much-loved Adept Christmas Choir Competition, held at the beautiful St Catherine’s Church in Burbage.
The day was packed with laughter, music and Christmas magic as choirs from across Adept Care Homes came together to sing their chosen festive songs. The Old Vicarage choir delivered a joyful performance full of warmth and smiles — earning them the trophy for Best Small Choir.

Their joyful performance filled St Catherine’s Church with festive cheer, proving that even a small choir can create a big Christmas moment. Residents sang with confidence, smiles and plenty of sparkle, making it a win to remember.
“It felt like Christmas had arrived early. We were all smiling and singing our hearts out — and when they said we’d won, I was absolutely delighted!” said one resident with a smile.
After the performances, residents tucked into a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, sharing stories, laughs and plenty of festive chatter. Trophies were presented by Father Andrew and the church’s Choir Master, rounding off a truly special day.
Kenny Nelson, Managing Director for Adept added:
“The atmosphere was magical. Seeing our residents so confident, joyful and connected through music was the perfect way to celebrate Christmas together.”
