The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Derbyshire, is celebrating after being named a finalist in this year’s Care Home Awards for Best for Indoor/Outdoor Communal Space. This prestigious recognition comes following the creation of ‘The Clay Cross Keys’, a resident and team-built pub and beer garden, designed to enhance social interaction and well-being for residents.

Built with passion and teamwork, The Clay Cross Keys has become the heart of the home, providing residents with a space to enjoy a traditional pub atmosphere, socialise with friends and family, and take part in meaningful activities.
The pub and beer garden reflect The Old Vicarage’s commitment to creating engaging, vibrant spaces that promote independence and community spirit.
Home Manager Jordele Folkes said:
“We are incredibly proud to be recognised for this award. The Clay Cross Keys was built with our residents at the heart of the project, and seeing the joy it brings them every day makes it all worthwhile. This space fosters connection, laughter, and a real sense of home, and we are thrilled to see it acknowledged on a national stage.”
The winners of the Care Home Awards 2025 will be announced later this year, and The Old Vicarage team is excited to be in the running for such a meaningful accolade.
