Enterprising residents raise thousands at Moat House

21st February 2018: Enterprising residents at family-run, Moat House Care Home which provides award-winning affordable luxury care, have raised thousands with their crafty capers.

From knitted blankets and hats to beautiful artwork, residents sell their creations to friends and family and have raised over £4000 since they began knitting to net a profit in 2015.

Brenda Robinson, Moat House resident and entrepreneur said: “I’ve been part of the Moat House knitting club for over a year now. We love making things that we can sell and we’ve made all sorts, from Leicester City hats to red noses and egg cup cosies!”

Nicky French, Moat House Home Manager, added: “Our residents are always very keen to create and sell their wares. Whilst we have a generous budget to fund our social activities such as performers and excursions, the money raised by our residents from knitted and crafty creations goes back into the pot to purchase craft goodies and extra treats chosen by the residents!

“We are very keen to support our enterprising residents, they are genuinely motivated by what they can make and how much money they can raise. Our aim is to provide a superb place to live or work and by supporting residents with ventures such as this, we’re definitely achieving this.”
