There was a delicious aroma filling the halls of Douglas Court Care Home in Derby recently, as resident Frances took to the kitchen to cook up a special meal for everyone to enjoy.

Frances, who has a love for Italian cuisine, spent time preparing a homemade lasagne, which was later shared with fellow residents at lunchtime. Cooking has always been something Frances enjoys, and she was delighted to have the opportunity to share her passion with others.
The kitchen was full of activity as Frances got involved in the preparation, with team supporting her every step of the way. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and anticipation grew as the dish came together.
When lunchtime arrived, residents were treated to Frances’ delicious creation — a meal made with care, love and a personal touch that made it all the more special.
Sian Rankin, Home Manager at Douglas Court Care Home said:
“It was wonderful to see Frances doing something she loves and sharing that with others. Food has such a powerful way of bringing people together, and this was a perfect example of that.”
The experience not only gave Frances the chance to revisit a much-loved hobby, but also created a warm, social moment for everyone in the home.
Moments like these are at the heart of life at Douglas Court — celebrating residents’ interests, encouraging independence and creating meaningful experiences every day.
With full plates and happy smiles all around, Frances’ lasagne was truly a recipe for success.
