Zoolab Brings Animal Magic to Douglas Court Care Home

Residents and team at Douglas Court Care Home recently enjoyed an exciting and interactive visit from The Zoolab team, who delivered a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on animal experiences, learning and discovery.

The visit introduced a variety of animals, giving residents the opportunity to get up close with creatures they may not encounter every day. From soft and cuddly animals to more unusual reptile species, the session offered a unique and engaging sensory experience for everyone involved.

Throughout the afternoon, residents were captivated as Zoolab presenters shared interesting facts about each animal, including their natural habitats, diets, behaviours and adaptations. The informative talk sparked curiosity, conversation and plenty of questions from residents eager to learn more.

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for residents to gently hold and stroke the animals, with many expressing delight at the chance to interact so closely. The tactile experience proved both stimulating and enjoyable, encouraging smiles, laughter and moments of surprise and fascination.

Team at the home noted that the visit provided not only entertainment but also meaningful engagement, supporting wellbeing through sensory interaction, reminiscence and shared conversation among residents.

Sian Rankin, Home Manager for Douglas Court Care Home said:

“The Zoolab visit was a fantastic experience for our residents. Everyone really enjoyed learning about the animals and having the chance to hold and interact with them. It created such a positive and uplifting atmosphere in the home.”

The afternoon was widely described as a great success, leaving residents with new knowledge, memorable experiences and plenty of stories to share long after the animals had departed.
