The care home team organised the outing as part of their ongoing commitment to personalised resident experiences, ensuring Kath had the opportunity to revisit familiar places at a comfortable pace and with full support throughout the day.

During the visit, Kath enjoyed exploring the town and its surroundings, taking time to reflect on how the area has changed while also recognising familiar landmarks that brought back vivid memories. She shared stories from her past with staff accompanying her, offering insights into her family connections and experiences in Windsor over the years.

The trip became a journey of reminiscence, with Kath enthusiastically recounting memories, discussing historical details she remembered, and enjoying conversations sparked by the sights and atmosphere of the town. Staff described the experience as both uplifting and engaging, with Kath visibly enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with such an important place in her life.

Marie Stroe, Home Manager for The Old Vicarage Care Home said:

“It was truly wonderful to see Kath revisiting a place that means so much to her. The day brought back so many happy memories, and she was able to share stories and moments from her past that really came alive during the visit. She thoroughly enjoyed every moment.”

The outing was arranged through the home’s Make a Wish initiative, which is designed to support residents in reconnecting with meaningful places, passions, and experiences from their lives. The initiative continues to create memorable opportunities that enrich wellbeing, spark conversation, and celebrate each resident’s unique life story.
