An exciting new intergenerational project is set to launch at Harrier House Care Home, bringing together residents and home-educated children for fun, creativity and connection through LEGO.
The first session will take place on Friday 10th April, when children from the local home education community will visit the home for a special LEGO group designed to encourage interaction between generations.

The group has been organised by Becky, a local parent, who approached the care home with the idea. Passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for children and older adults to spend time together.
Initially, the sessions will run every two weeks on Friday mornings for one hour, with places limited to 12 children to ensure everyone has the chance to participate and interact with residents.
The LEGO sessions will provide a relaxed and creative space where children and residents can work together to build imaginative creations, share stories and learn from one another. Intergenerational activities like this are known to benefit both young and older participants by encouraging friendships, boosting wellbeing and strengthening community ties.
Samantha Kavanagh, Home Manager at Harrier House Care Home said the team is excited to welcome the group.
“We are delighted to be hosting this wonderful initiative. Activities that bring different generations together can be incredibly special, and we are looking forward to seeing residents and children connect through creativity and play.”
For Becky, the project is about much more than building with bricks.
“I’m really passionate about creating opportunities for children and older people to spend time together. LEGO is such a brilliant way to break the ice and get everyone chatting and working together.”
The new group is expected to become a regular highlight at Harrier House, with laughter, creativity and friendship at the heart of every session.
With colourful bricks ready and imaginations at the ready, residents and children alike are preparing to start building something truly special — not just LEGO models, but meaningful intergenerational connections.
