14th February 2018: Family-run, Chetwynd House Care Home, which provides award-winning affordable luxury and the highest quality care, has helped a married resident couple celebrate Valentine’s Day in style.
Beeston-born, Dennis and Beryl Morris met when they were 16 and marked the end of WW2 with their first date! They married on August 12th, 1950 and have raised their 3 girls, who between them have 6 daughters. A family of girls, they now have two great-granddaughters, though everyone welcomed the first boy in the family who was born in October.
Residents at Chetwynd House since January, the happy couple were treated to a special candle-lit dinner of prawn cocktail, rack of lamb and a decadent chocolate orange cheesecake, all lovingly prepared by Chetwynd’s Chef. The dining room was filled with candles and music from their favourite, Nat King Cole, completed the romantic ambience.
Former Dental Technician, Dennis said: “We are very touched. You don’t realise when you are entering this stage of life that things could turn out to be so happy, we are not just an old retired couple. We feel very lucky. The home provides a lovely atmosphere, we couldn’t be happier, what a lovely surprise. I sensed there was something going on this morning but I had no idea this would happen. The staff are wonderful arranging this. The meal was out of this world, the chef is a champion!”
Chetwynd House Home Manager, Claire Gordon-Rundle commented: ‘Helping Dennis and Beryl celebrate their first Valentine’s Day here at Chetwynd House has been wonderful. We’re very proud to go the extra mile with special personal touches such as this for our residents, it’s what makes us a superb place to live and work. We’ve tried to make the day special for everyone, with themed-dining and a little surprise of chocolates left on everyone’s pillows.”
