Douglas Court Delivers Festive Classic to Win Best Traditional Choir

Residents from Douglas Court Care Home in Derby embraced the true spirit of Christmas at the Adept Christmas Choir Competition, held at St Catherine’s Church in Burbage.

The church was filled with festive cheer as choirs from across Adept Care Homes came together to sing familiar Christmas favourites. Douglas Court’s classic performance earned them the award for Best Traditional Choir.

Their voices rang out through the church, filling the space with warmth, confidence and seasonal cheer. With big smiles and festive sparkle, the choir’s performance captured the true joy of Christmas. Their singing brought back treasured Christmas memories, filling the church with warmth, joy and timeless festive charm.

“These are the songs I’ve loved all my life — we had so much fun and kicks off our Christmas celebrations in style,” said one resident with a chuckle.

Residents then enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, before trophies were presented by Father Andrew and the church’s Choir Master, rounding off a wonderful celebration.

“Traditional music has a special way of bringing people together, and this performance truly captured that.”

After the performances, residents tucked into a traditional fish and chip lunch from Burbage Fisheries, before trophies were presented by Father Andrew and the Choir Master, rounding off a wonderful festive day.
