Residents at Douglas Court Care Home have proudly taken home the award for “Best for Flavour” in this year’s Ready Steady Cook competition – part of Adept Care Homes’ commitment to promoting joyful, active and fulfilling lifestyles through meaningful resident-led activities.

Using a selection of twelve ingredients, residents at Douglas Court teamed up with the Activities Team to create a batch of freshly baked cheese and onion scones. The savoury twist stood out amongst the sweet treats across the competition, and the bold flavours wowed the judges!
Resident, Joyce Green, shared:
“It’s been lovely doing something different – I can’t wait to taste it!”
The judging panel, that included Cathy Bown, Adept Care Homes’ Activity Support, praised this bake for its flavour combination.
“The flavours are lovely – you’ve done a great job!”
The event brought a buzz of creativity and teamwork to the home, with residents excited to get involved, whilst sharing stories and laughter along the way.
The Ready Steady Cook competition has not only showcased the great talents of our residents, but has also encouraged teamwork, connection and reminiscence. We are incredibly proud of everyone at Douglas Court for the enthusiasm, care and dedication that went into each step of the way.
