Residents at Kiwi House Care Home Travel the World with VR Experience.

Residents at Kiwi House Care Home in Alvaston, Derby we’re amazed an all-new immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience.

Thanks to a generous donation of VR headsets from Chalcot Care, Kiwi House residents embarked on virtual journeys around the world and immerse themselves in tranquil and captivating landscapes, all from the comfort of their cinema room.

The initiative has revolutionised the way residents experience entertainment and engage with the world beyond their immediate surroundings. As well as their usual variety of daily activities, residents of Kiwi House Care Home now have access to a variety of awe-inspiring virtual tours, allowing them to virtually travel to iconic landmarks, cultural sites, and natural wonders from around the globe.

Ann (79) who fondly remembers her youth working on her family farm, was able to step back into farm life and watch the animals grazing in the countryside alongside Robert (98) who spent many years travelling the world for his career. He visited China, Africa and Scotland to revisit some of his favourite places. “I have never seen anything like it, it’s truly amazing, what an adventure,” said Robert.

“We are truly excited about the potential of this VR experience to further enhance the lives of our residents,” shared Karen Middleton, Dementia Manager at Kiwi House Care Home. “This technology will provide our residents with a unique opportunity to engage with the wider world.”

The launch of the VR experience was received with much enthusiasm, and residents and team alike are eagerly looking forward to embarking on more virtual journeys and creating cherished memories through this transformative technology.
