Chetwynd House Care Home in Chilwell, part of the Adept Care Homes group, recently held a successful pre-loved clothes sale, bringing residents, families, team members, and the local community together for a day of sustainable shopping and social connection.
Chetwynd House Care Home in Chilwell has been honoured with the “Best for Community Inclusion” award at the Adept Awards in Excellence, held at the Hilton Hotel in Leicester on 7th May. The award recognises the home’s outstanding commitment to building strong, lasting connections with the local Chilwell community.
Voted for by the public, the award reflects Chetwynd House’s belief that care homes should be vibrant hubs of community life. From intergenerational partnerships with local schools and nurseries to charity events, open-house days, and creative collaborations, Chetwynd House has made it a mission to welcome the wider community into the lives of its residents.
There was excitement in the air at Chetwynd House Care Home in Chilwell as residents received a very special visitor – Nottingham Forest’s Under 21s goalkeeper, Keehan Willows!
A proud moment for the home’s many lifelong Forest fans, the visit brought back a flood of cherished memories and sparked lively football discussions. Keehan was warmly welcomed by residents and team members alike, who were thrilled to chat with him about the team’s legacy, their favourite match-day memories, and hopes for the club’s future.
With veganism becoming one of the UK’s fastest growing lifestyle movements and with an estimated 7,000 vegetarians and vegans in residential and nursing care homes, Hospitality Manager, Rebecca Lambert at Chetwynd House decided to introduce residents to the plant-based diet by holding a vegan festival during the month of January, or better known as ‘Veganuary’.
“I am taking part in Veganuary this year and when the residents heard about it, they asked me: “What can you eat? Can you still eat chocolates and sweets? Don’t you miss meat?” I wanted to show them how diverse and interesting vegan food can be.”
