On October 5th, Steph, a member of the Activity and Wellbeing team of The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield took a leap of faith—150 feet into the air and into the darkness—to raise funds for the residents’ social fund, all in the name of enhancing their wellbeing program.

As part of the Adept Care Homes Make a Wish program, Ann, aged 80, expressed her heartfelt desire to restore her lifelong bear friend, which has been a constant companion since she was a small child. Originally belonging to her mother, this teddy bear has been by Ann’s side through countless memories, joys, and trials. Adorned in the lovingly knitted clothes crafted by Ann’s mother, the bear represents a deep connection to her childhood and family history. However, after a century of adventures, the bear is showing signs of wear—its once-vibrant fur is now faded, and the stitching has started to unravel.
Moat House Care Home and the Anchor Inn in Burbage are rallying with other local businesses to support its local church with the exciting “Save the Spire” campaign—and they kicked things off with a bang! A lively and unforgettable “Bonkers Bingo” night, hosted by Cathy Bown, Group Activities Support Coordinator from Adept Care Homes and Moat House, took place at The Anchor Inn in Burbage. With the enthusiastic support of Aden, the pub’s dedicated manager, the community came together for an evening packed with laughter, excitement, and generosity!

Residents at The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross are celebrating a blooming achievement in this year’s Adept Care Homes annual sunflower growing competition. Among the tall tales of gardening greatness, one sunflower stood out at an impressive 7 feet 10 inches, earning a well-deserved runner-up spot in the contest.
Leading the charge was resident Dot and her daughter, whose green thumb and dedication helped her sunflower stretch skyward. “It’s been such a joy to be part of this competition,” Dot said. “I never imagined my sunflower would grow this tall! It’s been wonderful to watch it inch higher every day.”
