Yvonne Dench (93) and Jill Evans (87), two residents of Harrier House Care Home in Hucknall, spent countless Friday mornings, individually visiting their local John Lewis Store and café before moving into the care home. These two extraordinary women have now found a way, with the help of the team to relive those cherished moments in the comfort of their home.
Highfields Lane Allotments Members Unite to Support Local Care Home, Kiwi House Care Home in Alvaston, Derby.
Highfields Lane Allotments, a vibrant community of gardeners, has come together to extend a helping hand to the local community in Derby. With their green thumbs and generous hearts, the allotment members have successfully raised funds to support several deserving local community groups, including the resident’s social fund at Kiwi House Care Home.
Moat House Care Home in Burbage, part of family-run Adept Care Homes, has been awarded a High Commendation for Best Staff Retention and Recruitment in the national Care Home Awards 2023. The Adept Care Homes group of 7 homes, including Moat House also received a High Commendation for Outstanding Small Care Provider for the third year running.

Home Manager, Hayley Langley surprised the residents and the team with the exciting news at Moat House.
Renowned TV Presenter and Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, Angela Rippon cut the ribbon and Officially Opened Harrier House Care Home in Hucknall, Nottingham on Saturday 1st July 2023.
Harrier House Care Home, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing exceptional care and enriching later life, is delighted to announce the official opening of its doors. Esteemed TV presenter Angela Rippon, joined by BBC’s Our Dementia Choir, graced the occasion with her presence, adding a touch of glamour to the event while highlighting the importance of quality care for the local community.
Bowood Court & Mews in Redditch celebrated the official Grand Opening of its new onsite Pub, The Queens Elizabeth Arms on Monday 26th June 2023.
Residents can now enjoy a tipple down at their ‘local’, after the care home transformed its leisure and wellbeing facilities to include a traditional English Pub and Beer Garden, where the authentic pub atmosphere comes to life.
Olive Riley (90), who resides at The Old Vicarage Care Home in Clay Cross, Chesterfield, has her wish come true, following the homes recently re-launched, resident focused ‘Make a Wish’ programme.
Residents are encouraged to write down their biggest wish for 2023 and place it on the home’s ‘wishing tree’. Every month, one wish is randomly picked, and the dedicated activities and wellbeing team set to work making the big dream come true.
The Old Vicarage Care Home scooped an award for Best for Wellbeing at the annual Adept Excellence Awards Gala Night.
The home who prides itself in providing ‘a superb place to live or work’ was recognised for its efforts over the past 12 months.
“We are so proud that we have achieved the Wellbeing award. The wellbeing of our residents is always paramount in everything we do, and life at The Old Vicarage is designed to provide a full range of enriching physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. The sense of community and companionship offered by all our social areas and communal activities helps promote their independence, choice and dignity,” said Jordelle Foulkes, Trainee Home Manager.
