Bowood Court Care Home is thrilled to announce that its Head Chef, Andrew “Andy” Taylor, has been awarded the prestigious Creed Food Service Care Chef of the Year 2024 title! Competing against some of the top talent in care catering, Andy’s culinary expertise, creativity, and dedication to exceptional care dining won the judges over in the final held at Rugby College on Thursday, October 31st. 

At the event, Andy showcased his signature Tuscan Chicken, a vibrant dish inspired by the warm flavours of Italy, along with an IDDSI Level 4 adaptation to meet the needs of diners requiring a texture-modified option. His winning creation combined taste, texture, and presentation, skilfully reflecting the competition’s focus on dishes that are not only flavourful but also adaptable, sustainable, and suitable for all dietary requirements.

The residents of Bowood Court Care Home in Redditch were buzzing with excitement as one of their own, June Cooke, aged 93, pledged to knit 90 hand-crafted poppies for her local Royal British Legion (RBL) branch. June’s poppies will be part of a special window display at the Kingfisher Centre in November, commemorating Remembrance Day. Moved by her heartfelt contribution, representatives from the RBL Redditch paid a personal visit to Bowood Court to express their gratitude in style.

Bowood Court Care Home Residents Delighted by Visit from Baby Goats

Residents at Bowood Court Care Home in Redditch received a surprise visit from a group of adorable baby goats. The visit brought immense joy and excitement, as the residents had the opportunity to have the baby goats sit on their laps, feed them treats, and play with them as the goats wagged their tails in delight.

One resident, Kath, was particularly thrilled by the visit. Her face lit up with amazement as she asked numerous questions about the playful animals, showcasing the profound impact that animal interactions can have on the wellbeing of the elderly. “They are wonderful, look at their little horns” said Kath.

The Meet the Manager event commenced at 10:00 AM and continued throughout the morning, providing attendees with the chance to engage with Tracy O’Sullivan and the wider team, ask questions, and get to know her better. Tracy was eager to meet with residents, families, and community members to address any inquiries they had.
