Paul Richardson (83) who currently resides at Harrier House Care Home in Hucknall made a wish he never thought would come true.

As part of Harrier House Care Home’s Make a Wish initiative, which encourages over 500 residents to share their wishes, no matter how big or small, Paul, who spent many years as a reporter for the Notts Evening Post and a devoted Notts Forest supporter, expressed his desire to attend one last live football match accompanied by his sons and to introduce his granddaughter Izzy to her first ever live game. With the dedicated support of Toni, the Activity & Wellbeing Lead at Harrier House, Paul’s wish is about to become a reality.

Residents at Moat House Care Home in Burbage recently had their Christmas Wish granted through the Moat House ‘Make A Wish’ program, as they embarked on a magical journey to the Coombe Abbey Winter Light Trail 2023. Organized by the dedicated Activities Team, fondly known as ‘The Moat House Elves,’ this enchanting experience illuminated the lives of multiple residents and brought the spirit of joy and wonder to the festive season.

As part of the Make a Wish initiative, which encourages over 100 residents to share their wishes, no matter how big or small, later the wishes are placed in the homes Magic Wishing Well and every month at least one resident is picked at random to see their wish come true.

Bowood Court in Redditch proudly takes the spotlight as the ‘Master of the Mince Pie’ in a fierce company-wide competition, triumphing over former winners Moat House Care Home in Burbage.

In this festive tradition, residents from the seven Adept care homes were tasked with sharing and discussing their favourite pastime recipes for their classic mince pie. Residents vote on what elements make a mince pie truly delectable. The chef teams help the residents at each home to meticulously crafted their own perfected versions, presenting them to a panel of judges at the eagerly anticipated annual mince pie-making competition.
