Christmas has come early for a care assistant at Douglas Court.
On being officially named as the home’s Employee of the Year and scooping a £100 Christmas bonus, Zara Hussain from Douglas Court said: “I work with a great team here at Douglas Court and I’m proud to be named their employee of the year,”
“Many congratulations to Zara. As part of our aim of being a superb place to live or work, we operate a monthly Employee of the Month scheme. Each of our care home managers chooses to recognise the work of an employee and then at the end of the year, we select the overall winner at each home. This year, we also surprised our team with prizes for the ‘Best Dressed’ amongst them at our glittering awards and Christmas party!” explained Adept Managing Director, Dave Lock.
Residents from Douglas Court performed to a packed audience of relatives and loved ones at St Catherine’s Church, Burbage as part of a care home singing competition.
Each of 5 resident choirs performed two of their favourite songs including a Christmas classic and together the five choirs taking part all gave a rousing performance of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Whilst also fun, the choirs were judged by an experienced panel with four members and the leader of St Catherine’s church choir. The resident choirs were treated to a fish & chiplunch before the awards were presented. Douglas Court was awarded Best creative choir.
“It was a lovely day out, I really enjoyed it. You need toget out now and then and mix with other people,” said Douglas Court Resident, Madge Kemm.
Adept Care Homes Managing Director, Dave Lock said: “Singing is a much-loved past time for our residents and we have all enjoyed months of practice along with today’s final performances. The church has been agreat setting and with performances of Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland,we’re definitely feeling festive! A huge congratulations to everyone involved in delivering something truly special for our residents.”
