Christmas has come early for a care assistant at Kiwi House.

On being officially named as the home’s Employee of the Year and scooping a £100 Christmas bonus, Vicki Whareham said: “I am so pleased to work for such a company as Kiwi House, this makes me feel very valued,”

“Many congratulations to Vicki and to Matt who also received £50 as runner up at Kiwi House. As part of our aim of being a superb place to live or work, we operate a monthly Employee of the Month scheme. Each of our care home managers chooses to recognise the work of an employee and then at the end of the year, we select the overall winner at each home. Zara Toasts 2018 as Douglas Court Employee of the Year

Nicole Toasts 2018 as Moat House Employee of the Year!

On being officially named as an Employee of the Year and scooping a £100 Christmas bonus, Nicole Last from Moat House said: “I enjoy working at Moat House and was very surprised to have been awarded Employee of the year!’

“I am proud to have been nominated and receive the award as it is nice to be recognised for the work I do,’ added Colleen Mckay, who was runner up but also received £50 on the spot for reciting the care home’s vision and values!

Alli Toasts 2018 as Chetwynd House Employee of the Year!

Christmas has come early for a worker at a Chetwynd House.

I really enjoy my role as Care Manager as I assist our lovely residents to remain safe and independent whilst being well cared for,”

Care Home Residents Go to Office Christmas Doo!

Their working days may be over, but thanks to a local accountancy firm, care home residents have enjoyed being part of a work’s Christmas party once again!

“It was fantastic, everyone was very friendly. I didn’t expect to attend another work’s Christmas party, but how lovely of them all to invite us along to theirs,” said Brian Beech, from Kiwi House Care Home, Derby.

PKF Cooper Parry decided to invite residents from Kiwi House Care Home to its staff Christmas lunch, which also saw a festive choir performance, a tombola and all guests received a present!

“I have had a wonderful afternoon. I enjoyed every part of it but my favourite was the choir,” said Dave Waldie, a fellow resident at Kiwi House who attended the Christmas Party at PKF’s offices on Thursday 13thDecember.

PKF Cooper Parry, People Engagement Manager, Laura Hill explained: “We are passionate about the communities in which we operate. Our focus on social isolation in particular prompted us to invite local care home residents to our Christmas party. It’s a lovely time of year and we wanted to include other members of our community in our celebrations. It was lovely to see everyone having such a great time!”

Choral Christmas Delight in Care Home Competition

Residents from Kiwi House performed to a packed audience of relatives and loved ones at St Catherine’s Church, Burbage as part of a care home singing competition.

Each of the 5 choirs performed two of their favourite songs including a Christmas classic and together the five choirs taking part all gave a rousing performance of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Whilst also fun, the choirs were judged by an experienced panel with four members and the leader of St Catherine’s church choir. The resident choirs were treated to a fish & chip lunch before the awards were presented. Kiwi House picked up the award for best small choir.

Marie Hopkins Resident at Kiwi House said: ”I had a lovely day, it was nice helping each other. The fish and chips were hot and lovely. The whole team worked very hard. It was a really nice day out!”

Adept Care Homes Managing Director, Dave Lock said: “Singing is a much-loved past time for our residents and we have all enjoyed months of practice along with today’s final performances. The church has been agreat setting and with performances of Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland, we’re definitely feeling festive! A huge congratulations to everyone involved in delivering something truly special for our residents.”
